Yesterday, in a video that went viral on social networks, it was possible to see how several police officers surrounded an immigrant and one of them beat him. The incident was witnessed in August last year, in the San Miguel district of Irun, and the victim was hit in the face when he was criticizing the behavior of the repressive forces. The repressive forces attacked this person and then left, leaving the injured person lying on the ground. In front of these getakari, the anti-repressive organization ASKE complained that “these events of the last few days are a clear demonstration of the impunity of the police to use violence and a structural attitude” and added that we need to “create resources to fight the harassment and respond in an organized way”.
Cases of police violence in Donostia
However, this has not been the only case of police violence, since a few weeks ago several police officers forcibly immobilized a young migrant in the Blas de Otero square in Egia, and then forced him inside a doorway, forcing the person recording the operation to move away from the doorway. The video was recorded a few weeks ago, but as the educator who works in a non-governmental organization explains, it is not the first time something like this has happened. In fact, according to this educator, on the same day that the events seen in the video took place, another young migrant was beaten by the police in the same doorway, and another in the square.
